The Best Exercise Isn't the Trend—It's the One You'll Actually Do

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." — Colossians 3:23
Every year, a new fitness trend promises amazing results.
One year it's high-intensity intervals.
The next year it's dance fitness.
Then comes rebounding, kettlebells, Pilates, rowing, or the newest workout everyone is talking about.
There's nothing wrong with trying something new.
In fact, I enjoy exploring different ways to move.
But after more than 35 years of teaching exercise, I've learned something far more important.
The best exercise isn't the newest trend.
It's the one you'll actually keep doing.
Consistency Changes Lives
I've met people who own expensive treadmills covered with laundry.
Others have closets filled with unused fitness equipment.
The problem wasn't the equipment.
It was trying to force themselves into an exercise they didn't enjoy.
Health isn't built in one perfect workout.
It's built through consistent movement over time.
Find something you look forward to.
Then keep showing up.
There's More Than One Way to Move
Some people love walking.
Others enjoy dancing.
Some prefer chair exercise.
Others enjoy strength training.
Many of my viewers enjoy rebounding.
Others simply enjoy stretching while listening to worship music.
They're all moving.
They're all caring for their bodies.
And they're all making progress.
Your Journey Is Unique
One of the greatest mistakes we can make is comparing our journey to someone else's.
God didn't create us to be identical.
He created each of us uniquely.
Your favorite form of movement may not be mine.
That's okay.
What matters is finding a routine that fits your life, your body, and your season.
Exercise Should Bring Joy
One thing I hope people notice when they join one of my workouts is that we're smiling.
Yes, we're exercising.
But we're also celebrating life.
Movement should leave you feeling encouraged.
Not discouraged.
Exercise isn't punishment for what you ate yesterday.
It's gratitude for what your body can do today.
Temple Maintenance Looks Different for Everyone
Some days your Temple Maintenance might be:
A brisk walk.
A chair workout.
A dance class.
Stretching.
Light dumbbells.
Rebounding.
A peaceful walk with worship music.
Every one of those activities honors the body God has given you.
Don't get caught chasing trends.
Stay committed to movement.
My Own Philosophy
People often ask why my workouts include so many different styles.
The answer is simple.
I want everyone to feel included.
Some people need seated workouts.
Others enjoy standing cardio.
Some love Christmas workouts.
Others enjoy gospel praise.
Some want strength.
Others simply need encouragement to take that first step.
If one style of movement helps someone become healthier, then it's worthwhile.
Find What Makes You Smile
If you smile while doing it...
You'll probably do it again.
And that's where lasting health begins.
Find movement that fits your personality.
Find movement that fits your ability.
Find movement that fits your life.
Then enjoy it.
A Simple Challenge
This week, ask yourself:
What type of movement makes me happy?
Not what everyone else is doing.
Not what's trending online.
What makes you want to move?
Then make time for it.
A Final Encouragement
Health isn't about keeping up with every new fitness craze.
It's about faithfully caring for the body God has given you.
Whether you're walking, dancing, stretching, lifting, or simply taking a few extra steps around your home...
You're making an investment in the future.
Remember this:
The best exercise isn't the trend.
It's the one you'll still be doing next month.
And next year.
That's where real transformation happens.
